SAIC Motor listed among top 10 best listed companies

SAIC Motor Corporation Limited was awarded as one of “CCTV China Top 10 Best Listed Companies” at the 2017 CCTV Financial Forum & Chinese Listed Companies Summit in Beijing, on Dec 12, 2017.

This is the second time for SAIC Motor to gain the honor. It was granted the award for producing qualified products, managing the company well and making contributions to the society. 

Automobile giant with high sales volume

In recent years, SAIC Motor has kept a close eye on the trend of customer demands and managed to optimize production and marketing structure, resulting in the stable development of self-owned and joint venture brands. From January to November of 2017, SAIC Motor sold approximately 6.2 million vehicles, realizing a year-on-year increase of 7.48 percent.

The brands solely owned by SAIC Motor maintained a sound developmental momentum. Roewe and MG achieved an increase of 70 percent in sales volume from January to November of 2017. A series of internet vehicles, such as Roewe SUV RX3, New MG6, MG SUV ZS, were released. The sale of another self-owned brand Maxus also increased by 46 percent in the same period. The new vehicle models, such as T60 and D90 were well received by the market. Maxus initiated its custom business of Customer to Business (C2B) model and sped up the business of recreational vehicle.

The joint venture brands also developed rapidly. From January to November of 2017, three joint ventures – SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC-GM and SGMW – ranked among the top four enterprises in terms of sales at domestic passenger vehicle market. Saic-iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co Ltd (SIH), a heavy vehicle manufacturer, increased by 172 percent in the same period, the highest growth rate among heavy truck companies.

Efforts for innovations

Taking the development trend of technology, market and industry as guidance, SAIC Motor used the development strategy orienting on electrification, interconnection, intelligence and sharing, as an effort to promote innovation and transformation.

In terms of electrification, SAIC Motor is the only automobile enterprise in China that has mastered the core technologies of plug-in hybrid, pure electricity and fuel cell at the same time. Its technologies in electric drive, battery and electric control also reached an international level.

In terms of electrification, SAIC Motor has established the mechanism to develop vehicle-mounted hardware facility and internet system, which can provide better vehicle products and services for customers. More than 250,000 internet cars, including Roewe RX5, Roewe i6, Roewe RX3, MG ZS and MG 6, were sold out. The MG ZS was also launched in Thailand, becoming the first domestic internet car sold at an overseas market.  

In terms of intelligence, SAIC Motor has accomplished the development of intelligent driving platform of two generations, as well as established the C-V2X – a technology that can promote vehicle safety and automatic drive. It also carried out the study on automatic driving in different traffic conditions. The accumulative test mileage of vehicles has exceeded 500,000 kilometers.

In terms of sharing, Global Car Sharing & Rental Co Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor, has expanded its time share business of new energy vehicles to 32 cities around the country. More than 17,000 vehicles were put into use. The number of registered members has exceeded 1.3 million and approximately 1 million orders were placed every month.

Actively take social responsibility

SAIC Motor attached importance to the harmonious development of economy, society and environment and exerted to fulfill its social responsibility.

To contribute more towards environmental protection, SAIC Motor actively pushed forward the development of new energy vehicles. For now, a dozen of new energy passenger and commercial vehicles have been launched, such as pure electric internet SUV Roewe ERX5, plug-in hybrid internet SUV Roewe eRX5, pure electric light bus Maxus EV80, and pure electric MPV Maxus EG10. It also realized the commercial development of fuel cell vehicles by launching Roewe 950 and Maxus FCV80. Efforts were also made to reserve energy and reduce emission during the production process. It managed to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions by more than 200,000 tons in one year.

As a State-controlled enterprise, SAIC Motor also undertook the responsibility of promoting economy development. In 2016, it paid more than 91.2 billion yuan ($14.48 billion) in tax, and created approximately 7,000 job positions. SAIC Motor shared the income with shareholders who could gain 16.50 yuan for every ten shares in 2017.

SAIC Motor will take more efforts to promote transformation and upgrading, to become a world renowned automobile enterprise and to reward shareholders with stable profits.
